Network Rail are currently undertaking works on Hill Street (between Navigation Street and Station Street)these works will continue over the coming weeks and will be completed mainly out of normal working hours.
The works that are being carried out are critical works to opening up the Northern side of the Station and completing the rebuild of New Street station.
Birmingham Gateway Project will be implementing a number of closures located on Hill Street over the next couple of months to carry out enabling works which will then allow us to position a crane on Hill Street to carry out critical lifts and put in place the extension of Navigation Street footbridge to Hill St over the Christmas period.
The Schedule of closures are as follows;
Closure of the Eastern footpath of Hill Street – This is currently closed and is scheduled to be reopened on the 30th January 2011.
Southbound lane closure of Hill Street (between Navigation street and Station Street) This will be implemented every night until the 30th January 2012 between the hours of 2200 to 0500 with the exception of when a full closure is in place.
Hill Street full road closure will be impletmented on several occasions whilst the works are being completed. During the closure access will be maintained for pedestrian access to all businesses and propertys located on Hill St via the western footpath. Initially this will only be implemented during the evenings between 2200 – 0500 and is scheduled to take place on the 10th December 2011 (2200) to 11th December 2011 (0500) for one night and on the 17th December 2011 (2200) to 18th December 2011 (0500). A final 5 day closure will be implemented from 24th December 2011 (2200) to 30th December 2011 (0500)
