Pubwatch – support for licensed premises to improve safety and security

City Pastors – 17 dedicated city pastors providing support to customers late night on Saturdays

Taxi Marshalls – taxi rank marshalling on Thu, Fri and Sat nights to help get customers safely away and reduce crime and anti social behaviour

Training – Chinese Language and Culture plus Hate Crime reporting training for local Police team, Street Wardens, City Pastors and Taxi Marshalls supporting their work in Chinatown and the Gay Village

Traffic – projects to improve pedestrian and cyclists’ safety in Southside

Wayfinding – the funding of 8 wayfinding totems designed to connect Southside with the rest of the city and help our customers find their way

Maps – 50,000 Southside maps printed and distributed throughout the city

Directions – ask a friendly Street Warden if you don’t know where to go (Wardens logged that they gave at least 3640 sets of directions in 2014)

Litter picking – 7 days a week concentrating on high footfall areas to keep Southside tidy

Jetwashing and Street Cleaning to remove engrained dirt and grime

Recycling – discounts available for recycling with Paperchasers brokered through the BID

Gum removal – spotcleaning and regular removal in high footfall areas

Rubbish – immediate removal of fly posting and fly tipping

Graffiti – removal reporting service

Air Quality – A38 Green Wall Project to improve air quality

Flowers – over 100 hanging baskets and flower troughs brighten the district every summer

Features – planted wicker features who pay homage to our cultural heritage and are part of a city wide Floral Trail

Public Art – various pieces of public art including the Rhinestone Rhino and Golden Boy’s ‘It’s all about the glasses’ on Lower Essex St

Trees – the management of tree maintenance, replacement and the BID’s commitment to ensure Southside becomes even more leafy and green
